Renewable Energy
Standard 5 - 7
Half day to full day
Renewable Energy Workshop is one of our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering,
and Mathematics) outreach initiatives designed to ignite young girls' curiosity and
interest in renewable energy especially Wind and Solar power. Through these workshops,
girls get a chance to dive into the world of renewable energy. They assemble, install
and test Wind turbines and Solar panels. This hands-on experience lets them explore
the scientific principles behind these technologies, while they learn the process of
assembling and installing the structures.
The Wind turbine kit, equipped with an electric generator, controller, battery, and power
inverter, provides a hands-on learning experience. Through assembling and operating this
miniaturized system, girls gain a firsthand understanding of how wind turbine blades
capture wind energy and convert it into usable electricity. They witness this transformation
firsthand by powering an LED light and charging a mobile phone, demonstrating the real-world
application of Wind energy in powering everyday devices.
Similar to the Wind turbine kit, the Solar panel kit provides a hands-on learning experience.
Equipped with a Solar panel, charge controller, battery, and power inverter, girls assemble,
install, and test the system. This process fosters a firsthand understanding of how Solar
panels capture sunlight and convert it into usable electricity. Following successful
installation, they witness this transformation by powering an LED light and charging a mobile
phone, demonstrating the real-world application of Solar energy in powering everyday devices.
The Renewable Energy Workshop offers an exciting and engaging way for girls to learn about
renewable energy, its applications, environmental benefits and the possibilities it holds
for the future. Our ultimate goal is to ignite young girls' curiosity and interest in STEM
fields, particularly those related to renewable energy. We highlight potential career paths
in renewable energy and STEM fields, encouraging participants to consider further education
and careers in these areas. We believe that workshops like these play a crucial role in
achieving that objective.
